Bethel College track star Cinnamon Green competing at last weekend's NCCAA Indoor Nationals. She set a school record in the weight throw (17.05) and won a national championship in the shot put (13.88).
The sophomore thrower has had a great month of February, and she continued that success into this weekend’s National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Indoor Nationals. Earlier in the month, Green won two events at the Indiana Wesleyan University (IWU) indoor track meet. She won the shot put with a throw of 13.13 and the weight throw with a toss of 16.75. Over the weekend, Green dominated the field at nationals which were also held on IWU’s campus. On Saturday, Feb. 16, Green set a school record in the weight throw with a toss of 17.05. Green helped put the Pilots in second-place after day one of the meet. On day two, Green won the championship in the shot put with a throw of 13.88 and helped the girls’ team finish third overall. The Elkhart, Ind. native will now help represent the Pilot track team when they travel to Geneva, Ohio for the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) Indoor National Championships on Thursday, Feb. 28 – Saturday, March 2. Every week, the Beacon will be bringing you the Bethel College “Athlete of the Week.” Look for an announcement from the athletic department on Monday for nominees.
